Almost every Sunday for over 7 years, our volunteers have been meeting at the Shelter, getting 15 to 30 dogs and puppies loaded into vehicles and driving them to PetSmart in Slidell to find new homes.  Over the years we have placed almost 2600 dogs and puppies through this effort.

Each year that goes by, it seems as if the dogs have gotten bigger and stronger.  We really need some volunteers who could help by meeting us at the shelter at 9 AM and help get the big dogs out of their runs or kennels and into crates in the vehicles.  We are usually loaded and on the way by 10 or 10:30.  If you have an hour or hour and a half to spare on a Sunday morning, please consider coming out and helping us get on our way.

We can also use your help in actually transporting them to Slidell and back.  On occasion we have volunteers who will take these homeless passengers to Slidell and then come pick them up in the afternoon.

We also need volunteers to help once we arrive at PetSmart around 10:30-11.  We cannot take any more big dogs than we have volunteers to hold them on leashes once we arrive.  On Sundays we stay until 3 or 3:30 depending on how adoptions are going.  We would really love it if you could help us load AND come stay with us at PetSmart on Sunday.
