Here is some data on how we are progressing with getting fewer animals in and more animals released through Live Release avenues.
This is a comparison between 2016 and 2017. We basically held our own during 2017. We are at almost 80% Live Release Rate for dogs and 44% for cats. This is up from 33% and 26% in 2007. Even though 74 more adult dogs came in, we successfully placed 90 more. We placed 50 less puppies but had 80 less to choose from. Cat intake was down and placement numbers remained about the same. Following the 2016-2017 numbers are comparisons from 2007 when we started keeping data. These charts show our trends since we started our low-cost spay-neuter program back in 2006. 2007 was the first year that we used shelter software to track our animals for a full year.
